Saturday Morning Notes

. The Vikings are bringing in five players for visits next week in Cadillac Williams, Braylon Edwards, Pac-Man Jones, Justin Tuck, and Erasmus James. I wouldn't read anything into this. In 2003 when they took Kevin Williams, the only player they brought in was Jimmy Kennedy. Scott Studwell says it is because of questions they had, they wanted to bring these guys in.

. Tom Peliasero this morning said the Vikings clearly prefer Cedric Benson as their running back of choice. So we will see.

. Mike Williams is rising up the draft boards, and I believe that he is likely to be taken before Braylon Edwards.

. Lack of height is slipping Pac-Man Jones down draft boards.

. The reason the Vikings might take a Defensive End with their first pick is so that they can have Kenechi Udeze play more Left End, where he excelled at College. Since they have too young ends who are pretty good against the run, their intrest in an end would be as a Pass-Rushing specialist that is why a David Pollack, or Erasmus James is a more likely choice than say a Marcus Spears.

. Players rising up draft boards-Matt Jones-WR-Arkansas, Demarcus Ware-DE/LB-Troy, Troy Williamson-WR-South Carolina, Marlin Jackson-CB-Michigan, Antrelle Rolle-DB-Miami, Carlos Rogers-DB-Auburn, and Khalif Barnes-T-Washingston

Players falling down-Pac-Man Jones-DB-West Virgina, Dan Cody-DE-Oklahoma, Elton Brown-G-Virgina, and Channing Crowder-LB-Flordia

.Despite what John Clayton says the Vikings willnot take Troy Williamson at 7, mark it down. He is way too raw as a route-runner, and didn't have great college productivity. They value college production when drafting players, and at this stage in his career, he would be nothing more than a deep threat.
